'Local Colour' at 2042 art on the street

2042: art on the street is happy to announce that 'Local Colour; the Newtown Colouring-in Book' by Newtown artists, Maggie Stein and Fiona Redevick, will be on sale at our information booth so don't forgot to check it out when you come to contribute to 2042: art on the street.

The book is an independent project by Stein and Redevick; a happy coincidence with 2042: art on the street, and a great publication that we would like to support. We are constantly impressed by Newtown's local talent and can't wait to see it in full swing this weekend, 24-25 October 2009.

Artwork takes shape thanks to amazing volunteers!

Over the past weeks volunteer artists have been working on the base for 2042: art on the street's collective artwork. As the map starts to take shape it will be very exciting to see how people will add to and enhance this beautiful starting off point. Pictured is the work slowly growing and some of the people who came to contribute. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed you are amazing! There are still plenty of opportunities to contribute as a volunteer or creatively on the day. Download the flyer for artists and creative contributors here (this will take you a google doc to download pdf).

Paste-up tests...there's nothing like experimenting!

Check out these photos of Jodie Barker and MKSHFT (who Jodie collaborates with on many of her projects) working on the design for the base of the 2042: art on the street community artwork. The screen printing and wall paper design is sure to be a beautiful canvas on which Newtown will express themselves.

Comfy in King Street

Jodie and Tony went to find out where on King St they felt like home. King Street has some incredible spots which mark the character of King Street.

Along the way we spotted a sweet little piece by Will Coles. He seems to be everywhere in Newtown and totally worth scouting around for.
